TROOPS DEPLOYED BACK TO USA / MARTIAL LAW?

bailout bill...next a police state?

First, a step towards Socialism re: bailout bill...next a police state?

WATCH THESE TWO CLIPS:

REMEMBER…less than 5% of the population took up arms, declared independence, and actually fought in our Revolutionary war? The other 95% of the people in colonial America sat at home, tended to their farms, and waited to see what the outcome would be. My point is that it only takes a small percentage of people to effect change. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR GOVERNMENT AMERICA!!!

I have been fortunate enough to receive daily pieces of news from a well-informed/politically active associate.  On 10.9.08 he sent this to me (click more)

LOST HIGHWAY – revisited

"I'm there right now..."

Elected to forgo the midnight madness of downtown LA to go home, unpack, and watch one my favorite movies, “Lost Highway.” Netflix blurb: A jazz saxophonist (Bill Pullman) suspects his wife (Patricia Arquette) of cheating on him. In short order, the wife is found murdered, and the husband is convicted of the crime. In prison, he transforms into a young mechanic (Balthazar Getty) who, after being released (he’s not the convicted murderer anymore), meets a local gangster’s moll … also played by Patricia Arquette! An interesting, fragmented film directed by David Lynch.

Soundtrack produced by: Trent Reznor / Year: 1997

An Open Letter to the U.S. Congress Regarding the Current Financial Crisis

In 2006, the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis noted “Everyone knows that a policy of bailouts will increase their number.” This week, Congress is being asked to hastily consider a monstrous bailout plan on a scale nearly equivalent to the existing balance sheet of the Federal Reserve.

As an economist and investment manager, I am concerned that the plan advocated by Treasury is essentially a plan to bail out the bondholders of financial institutions that made bad lending decisions, with little help to homeowners that are actually in financial distress. It is difficult to believe that the U.S. government is contemplating taking on the bad assets of these institutions at probable taxpayer loss and effectively immunizing the bondholders (and shareholders) of these companies.

GUSTAV . B . GONE

Twiddle Dee...

Sunday night 8/31.  Pacing around my LA apartment in a panic…actually staggering with sickness back/forth to the bathroom as i’m worried sick about family & friends back in Louisiana.  Another pending hurricane barreling towards our diminished coastline threatening to finish the job that Katrina started three years ago to the day.  My son, parents, and extended family are boarding up their houses in Baton Rouge & bracing for a possible hit all the while praying that New Orleans is spared from another direct hit.  All the emotions kept behind the levees of MY heart since Katrina begin to break free (veleta metaphorical moment).

CONTROL! CONTROL! CONTROL! CONTROL!

August 7, 2008 – Los Angeles

The evening started by watching our beloved Saints open the pre-season with a win over the Cardinals. Headed out to meet up DJ Sweatervest and Justin from Aquarium Drunkard at an event @ the Mint. Amazing line-up with only a sprinkling of silverlake die-hards that actually crossed over the Vermont “westside” barrier. Hopped in the car @ 10:30 to crosstown & catch one of my all time favorites THE FAINT for the 1st of their sold-out shows at the Fonda. Visually stimulating, and sonically assaulting – even enjoyed the extensive amount of new material. “Symptom Finger” was definitely the crowd hit and closed with the “Glass Danse” which pretty much was the highlight of my summer – my feet barely touched the ground for 3 minutes & the crowd of mid-30 indie rockers & Hollywierd kids rolling face joined as on Read More…

RED EYES & TEARS

BRMC on the keys!

Pill fused fuzz & throbbing strobe lights – perfect way to end a relaxing Sunday with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club at the Wiltern. BRMC served up a nice blend of new(er) material and staples from their first three albums. Genuinely impressed by the progression of this band’s live show which I’ve been following for the past five years. If you’re not familiar with the band, check out this video which is a middle representation of their music. Opener, The Black Angels, were a perfect fit with a southern fuzz/droaning spin on the psychedelic theme of the evening.  New favorite band.

god what a boring post/assessment of the evening but its the best i got at 3am.

THE WORLD SHRINKS INTO MY EYES

Written in September 2007…

So for many/most of you my travels abroad are of little consequence but if you make it past line 2-3 there is a fighting chance you care so bear with me. There will be no social manifestos simply an update to let everyone know that I am indeed still alive.  Drove around Madrid for 3 hrs+ in peak traffic trying to find a hotel in the badlands that is still under construction & open for only a week…

ADIOS 9/12
Left for Barcelona. Anyone who has traveled with me knows that traditionally that I pack like a diva that rivals any southern belle flying to NYC for the first time with ten bags in tow. Worked for about 48hrs straight on red bull & a few hours of sleep to wrap up all business affairs which was a lost cause but thankfully my clubs & business partner gave their blessing and picked up the slack. Frayed, dazed & confused stared at my suitcase and stacks of washed clothes. My friend/mi’ novea impatiently but lovingly pointed here, there, and the deed was done in 30 with me fully dressed and headed to the airport lollipop & water bottle in hand. Read More…
